Daily Schedule

Zen monastic life is based upon simplicity, stillness, and wholehearted effort. This is reflected in the daily schedule of zazen (meditation), chanting services, and work practice.

On Wednesday evenings, we often have a class rather than zazen. This class is usually led by one of the teachers and is on a wide variety of different Buddhist themes. On Sunday mornings, residents participate in a program of meditation and Dharma talk for the public from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

From 2:00 p.m. Sunday until 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, there are no scheduled activities, and residents are welcome to leave the monastery grounds or spend time at the monastery as they wish.
